MEET THE FOUNDER

Keita A. Pratt

Keita A. Pratt is not only the founder, but she is also a successfully functioning dyslexic adult. Keita knows first-hand how difficult the learning environment and society can be to navigate.  Her passion and desire to bring more awareness and change for dyslexic students and adults are near and dear to her heart.

Keita A. Pratt is not only the founder, but she is also a successfully functioning dyslexic adult. Keita knows first-hand how difficult the learning environment and
society can be to navigate. Her passion and desire to bring more awareness and change to dyslexic students and adults are near and dear to her heart. Keita learned in the 2nd grade she had a learning “difference”. She felt she was “different” but did not understand yet that her learning style was unique, and she shouldn’t be ashamed of it but seek assistance. Keita was teased and bullied during the entire time of her school-age years. Dyslexia was her invisible enemy which led her down many distracting roads in life. Keita struggled with low self-esteem.

She was always looking for validation and acceptance from others. Keita found herself in many unsavory places, thinking these were the only paths achievable to her with her “differences.” Negative comments from others had really gotten her down. Eventually, Keita stopped letting the distractions deter her from realizing her full potential. It took a near-death experience in one of those unsavory places, that sparked Keita to change her focus and seek the assistance she desperately needed. Keita believes in a higher power, and she sought divine intervention to help lead her out of the paths of destruction.  In 2004, an opportunity presented itself that allowed Keita to travel across the country and abroad to experience new environments. Since this life-changing experience and interacting with positive people who helped her understand her uniqueness and provided resources to assist her, Keita has since returned home stateside and has been giving back to her community ever since, in any small way that she can. Keita made a personal goal to support children facing issues similar to those she experienced as a child and even in her adulthood. By teaching life-long skills that include building self-esteem, confidence, and self-advocacy, Keita has been able to touch the lives of many and plans to continue her efforts. These life-long skills are the foundation for the future success of children with learning “differences” known as Dyslexia. No longer will these be the invisible enemy, but the Invisible Ability!
